Woman Resting with Book and Black Cat Oil Painting | Cozy Reading Figurative Vertical Wall Art #OA 1625

About this art：“A Chapter of Rest”

A reclining woman, a red book, and a black cat turn an ordinary pause into a quietly memorable scene. The figure stretches across a warm tan couch, her ivory blouse opening into generous folds while deep burgundy fabric anchors the lower composition. A book rests over her face, suggesting the delightful moment when reading becomes a nap.

The black cat gathers close against her body, its dark silhouette providing a crisp counterpoint to the pale blouse. Cushions in burnt orange and brown surround the figure without competing with her relaxed pose. Dark curls, loosely described hands, and the rhythm of the sofa's edges give the painting an intimate, unhurried character.

Large, simplified shapes create clarity from a distance, while uneven painted passages keep the surface lively up close. The warm palette feels familiar and lived in. Rather than describing a formal portrait, the artwork celebrates comfort, companionship, and the freedom to spend an afternoon without a schedule.

Display it where quiet rituals belong: beside a favorite reading chair, near a bookshelf, in a cozy bedroom, or as the focal point of a relaxed living room. It also brings a welcoming personal touch to a library, café, creative office, or boutique guest room. Caramel leather, walnut, cream linen, and burgundy accents echo its gentle warmth.

Hand-Painted Character

This is a genuine hand-painted oil painting on high-quality canvas, not a print or mechanically reproduced canvas image. The artist builds the composition with individual marks and layers of paint. Its visible directional brushwork, softly layered upholstery, and textured color transitions give the surface a personal, tactile character that can be appreciated both across a room and at close range.

Each painting is made by hand. Small variations in brushstrokes, paint thickness, individual contours, and color transitions are natural parts of this process, making every finished piece individually expressive. The reference image guides the overall composition and palette, while the finished artwork retains the living quality of painted canvas.

The main colors are warm ochre, caramel brown, ivory, burgundy, charcoal black, and muted terracotta. Gentle daylight reveals differences between lighter and darker passages; warm evening illumination gives the palette a more intimate atmosphere. A small echo of one or two colors in nearby textiles or ceramics can help the painting feel connected to the room.

Size and Presentation

The artwork has a vertical composition. Preserve the full original image proportions when choosing a custom size; the painted subject should remain complete and uncropped. Custom sizes are available for individual walls and furniture arrangements. Measure the clear wall area and allow comfortable breathing room around the frame.

Choose the presentation listed in the available product options. A wood frame adds natural warmth, while an aluminum frame creates a crisp gallery-style boundary. An unframed option emphasizes the canvas and painted surface. Display images illustrate styling possibilities; the selected size and frame option determine the ordered presentation.

Recommended spaces include living rooms, bedrooms, entryways, hallways, stair landings, dining rooms, reading corners, home offices, boutique hotels, and reception areas. A thoughtfully sized canvas can become a focal point above a sofa, near a fireplace, or on an accent wall above a bed.

Shipping and Care

Enjoy free worldwide shipping and free returns or exchanges within 30 days of receiving the artwork. To care for the painted surface, keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive moisture. Dust gently with a clean, soft, dry cloth, avoiding chemical cleaners and abrasive rubbing.
