Size Guide:
As a general guide, your artwork should cover around 60% to 75% of the wall space. This helps it feel present without crowding the room.
If you're hanging art above furniture, aim for the piece to be about two-thirds to three-quarters of the width of what's below. This keeps everything visually connected.
It's also worth considering color - choose tones that complement your space to create a cohesive, effortless look.
If you're unsure, try marking out sizes with masking tape on your wall. Live with it for a day or two - it's the easiest way to see what feels right.
These are just guidelines - always choose what feels right for your space.

B
The small stream is a lovely focal point beneath the trees. Its pale highlights brighten the lower part of the composition.
H
The varied strokes give the foliage and rocky ground plenty of character. The loose treatment makes the landscape engaging to explore.
A
The golden touches among the foliage bring warmth to the darker woodland. They guide attention naturally through the painting.
C
The olive greens, warm browns, and muted golds work beautifully together. The restrained palette gives the scene a timeless quality.
M
The dense trees and quiet stream create a wonderfully secluded atmosphere. The landscape feels peaceful and full of depth.
D
The expressive brushwork gives the rocks and foliage plenty of interest. I prefer somewhat smoother clouds, but the textured sky fits the overall style well.
A
The sheltered water and dense vegetation suggest a quiet place away from everyday noise. The soft sky adds a welcome sense of openness.
F
The subdued colors invite a slower look. Small changes in light and texture reveal interesting details throughout the scene.
J
The broad rock on the left and scattered stones give the foreground convincing weight. Their lighter tones balance the dark trees nicely.
V
The muted gold foliage complements the olive greens beautifully. I would enjoy a slightly wider opening between the trees, though the enclosed view has its own charm.
E
The touches of ochre and brown suggest a gentle seasonal change. They add warmth while preserving the painting's quiet mood.
F
The large tree anchors the scene, while the stream leads the eye inward. The composition feels substantial and naturally arranged.
C
The broad cream and gray clouds give the sky a gentle movement. Their brightness contrasts beautifully with the deep woodland shadows.
E
The cloudy sky and distant hills create a convincing atmosphere. A little more definition around the stream would better suit my taste.
O
The distant hills appear softly beyond the trees, adding depth without competing with the foreground. The layers feel thoughtfully balanced.
C
The earthy palette and woodland setting are very appealing. I would prefer slightly lighter shadows beneath the central tree to reveal more detail.

“In the Canadian wilderness, silence is never empty—it is filled with the movement of water, wind, and light. I paint to hold onto that quiet energy.”
Theo Arden
About The Artist
Theo Arden is a contemporary painter from Banff, Canada, whose work is deeply shaped by the forests, rivers, mountains, and changing skies of the Canadian landscape. Living close to nature, he draws inspiration from the raw stillness of woodland paths, rocky streams, and the subtle atmosphere that exists between weather, terrain, and memory.
Working primarily in textured oil paint, Theo builds his compositions through layered brushwork, palette-knife marks, and earthy tonal shifts. His palette often includes forest greens, stone greys, deep charcoals, misty blues, and muted neutrals—colors that reflect the calm strength and organic rhythm of the natural world.
Rather than simply portraying scenery, Theo seeks to express the emotional presence of a place: the weight of silence, the softness of light, and the grounded feeling of standing within nature. His paintings bring a sense of depth, stillness, and understated warmth, making them especially suited to interiors that value calm, texture, and timeless character.
