Size Guide:
As a general guide, your artwork should cover around 60% to 75% of the wall space. This helps it feel present without crowding the room.
If you're hanging art above furniture, aim for the piece to be about two-thirds to three-quarters of the width of what's below. This keeps everything visually connected.
It's also worth considering color - choose tones that complement your space to create a cohesive, effortless look.
If you're unsure, try marking out sizes with masking tape on your wall. Live with it for a day or two - it's the easiest way to see what feels right.
These are just guidelines - always choose what feels right for your space.

About this art: “A Gentle Giant in Color”
This 100% hand-painted original oil painting features a large elephant filling a tall narrow canvas, multicolored thick mosaic strokes, white tusks and curled trunk extending left on warm ivory. Its 1:2 vertical composition brings expressive color, tactile depth and a distinctive visual presence to your home.
A large elephant filling a tall narrow canvas, multicolored thick mosaic strokes, white tusks and curled trunk extending left on warm ivory. The placement of each shape and brushstroke creates a balanced composition, with the eye drawn toward the central subject and the layered details surrounding it.
Blending contemporary animal portrait art with sculptural impasto texture, this painting celebrates visible palette-knife marks and richly layered oil paint. Light catches the raised surface throughout the day, revealing subtle variations in depth and movement. Each artwork is hand-painted, so natural differences in texture are part of its character.
Designed as a striking focal point for a living room, bedroom, dining room, entryway or office, this colorful elephant portrait with white tusks oil painting pairs beautifully with natural wood, comfortable upholstery and carefully chosen accent pieces. Its vertical format works especially well on a wall with enough space to appreciate the full composition.
Choose from the available sizes and rolled canvas, frameless stretch or framed options to suit your space. Ownanart paintings are 100% hand-painted, never printed. Free worldwide shipping and free returns or exchanges within 30 days are included.

“In the Canadian wilderness, silence is never empty—it is filled with the movement of water, wind, and light. I paint to hold onto that quiet energy.”
Theo Arden
About The Artist
Theo Arden is a contemporary painter from Banff, Canada, whose work is deeply shaped by the forests, rivers, mountains, and changing skies of the Canadian landscape. Living close to nature, he draws inspiration from the raw stillness of woodland paths, rocky streams, and the subtle atmosphere that exists between weather, terrain, and memory.
Working primarily in textured oil paint, Theo builds his compositions through layered brushwork, palette-knife marks, and earthy tonal shifts. His palette often includes forest greens, stone greys, deep charcoals, misty blues, and muted neutrals—colors that reflect the calm strength and organic rhythm of the natural world.
Rather than simply portraying scenery, Theo seeks to express the emotional presence of a place: the weight of silence, the softness of light, and the grounded feeling of standing within nature. His paintings bring a sense of depth, stillness, and understated warmth, making them especially suited to interiors that value calm, texture, and timeless character.
