Man in Black and White Striped Suit Oil Painting | Wide Brim Hat Portrait on Red Horizontal Wall Art #OA 1640

About this art：“The Art of Waiting”

This 100% hand-painted original portrait oil painting features a seated man in a striking black-and-white striped suit against a rich red background. An exceptionally wide hat extends across the horizontal composition, while a curled black moustache gives the simplified face a playful, unmistakable character.

The figure rests his cheek against one hand, with the other arm crossing the body. Alternating stripes change direction across the jacket, sleeves, and trousers, bringing rhythm to an otherwise unhurried pose. Warm ochre tones in the face and hat soften the strong contrast of red, black, and white.

Fine linear marks across the hat suggest its woven texture, while broad red passages keep the surrounding space active. The portrait combines an elegant fashion silhouette with gently eccentric storytelling. Its humor comes from the measured pose and oversized hat rather than an exaggerated facial expression.

The horizontal format makes a strong statement above a sofa, sideboard, console, or bed. It also suits a dining room, home office, reading lounge, café, or boutique hotel. Walnut, black metal, ivory upholstery, and warm leather provide comfortable surroundings for its bold graphic palette.

Hand-Painted Character

Painted with oil colors on high-quality canvas, this artwork is made by hand rather than printed or mechanically reproduced. Its layered red brushwork, crisp but handmade stripe edges, fine hat marks, and expressive painted contours give the finished surface a tactile, individual character. The paint carries the movement of the artist's hand, with small transitions that become more apparent at close range.

Every canvas is individually painted. Natural differences in brushstroke direction, paint thickness, small contours, and color blending are part of the handmade process. The overall composition and palette follow the reference, while these subtle variations give each finished painting its own expression.

The main colors are deep red, scarlet, black, white, warm ochre, caramel, and golden brown. Gentle side light can reveal the contrast between raised marks and quieter areas. Soft daylight gives the palette clarity, while warm evening illumination can make the composition feel more intimate. Echo one or two colors in nearby cushions, a rug, or a ceramic object for an easy connection with the room.

Size and Presentation

This painting has a horizontal composition. Preserve its original proportions and full uncropped image when choosing a custom size. Custom dimensions are available to suit individual wall spaces, furniture arrangements, and residential or commercial interiors. Allow comfortable open wall around the frame so the entire composition can be enjoyed.

Choose the size and presentation listed in the available product options. A wood frame adds natural warmth and connects the painting with timber furniture. An aluminum frame provides a clean gallery-style boundary. An unframed option emphasizes the canvas and painted surface. Display images illustrate styling possibilities; the selected variant determines the ordered size and frame.

Recommended spaces include living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, entryways, hallways, stair landings, reading corners, home offices, boutique hotels, and reception areas. A carefully chosen size can create an inviting focal point above a sofa, near a fireplace, or on an accent wall above a bed.

Shipping and Care

All orders include free worldwide shipping and free returns or exchanges within 30 days of receiving the artwork. Keep painted canvas away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive moisture. Dust gently with a soft, clean, dry cloth, avoiding chemical cleaners and abrasive rubbing.
